Parents, are you worried about childhood obesity? Here's alarming news. Repeated use of antibiotics has been linked to weight gain in children and adult obesity later in life, reported Health Day on Oct. 22. Overuse of antibiotics in treatment of illness could cause children to have weight problems for the rest of their lives, reported researchers from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore. People magazine reported Oct. 15, that three sisters died in a Canada farm tragedy. The Alberta girls, Catie Bott, 13, and twin sisters Dara Bott and Jana Bott, both 11, were buried alive in a canola seed truck. The case prompts discussion of the unique dangers farm children face, like "drowning" and suffocation from grain engulfment. The heartbroken parents, Roger and Bonita Bott, own the farm. The girls were playing in a truckload of seeds on Oct. 13. Somehow all three girls got buried and suffocated from inhalation of the tiny canola seeds. Catie and one of the twins died at the scene. The other twin passed away at 3 am on Wednesday after being flown to Edmonton's Stollery Children's Hospital.  3 sisters died in Canada farm tragedy: Girls buried alive in canola seed truck | Examiner.com

As a 26-year mom of four, I've carved my fair share of Halloween pumpkins. Every year, I'd notice my hands would be raw and itchy after carving. Any skin that came in contact with pumpkin membrane would inflame. I've always had allergies and skin problems though I hadn't seen a doctor for them till adulthood.   Halloween pumpkin carving can trigger allergies, eczema, psoriasis flare-ups | Examiner.com
